South Coast Info - from News Bulletin No 5

1. The sixth annual Hibiscus Coast Arts Festival (the Hibiscus Coast is the southern KZN stretch of coastline) takes place from March 28th to April 1st at Margate - nice and slap bang in the middle of the school holidays. Organiser Malinda Kruger (039 - 317 4630) is expecting about 40 000 people to descend on Margate beach over the weekend in question to celebrate with local musicians, actors, visual artists, writers, dancers and singers. This has to be the very best time of the year to have a festival on the beach - balmy evenings, slight sea-soaked breezes, long twilights. There will be a permanent family-orientated programme at the little amphitheatre on the Margate beach itself and all sorts of other activities in the guest houses, shops and businesses in the area. For more information, contact Malinda or the Hibiscus Coast tourism office: tel: 039 - 312-2322, e- mail: margate@thehibiscuscoast.co.sa.
